take a walk

take a walk from hannah shaeffer
hey so this is our english project & the follow up!!! pls watch

the video was our final assignment of the year and we hoped to convey our theme through visual media...we actually had a really hard time coming up with an idea that encompassed everything we read about , so we decided on cardboard testimonies so we could each write a personal message of what we had taken from the process and focused on

ultimately , our video was supposed to convey how easy it is to get sucked into the busyness of life , where we spend our precious time doing frivolous things we think we have to do

current society may be overwhelming and demanding , it’s our duty to become cognizant in an attempt to free ourselves from the oppressive restrictions and suffocating expectations

its all about stepping back and "taking a walk" to discover what is holding us back , what we fear , what our purpose is , or what adjustments we need to make & we can never grow without setting aside time to really think about these huge , governing ideas

take a metaphorical walk this week for yourself, because who knows what you may discover - awareness is the first step in creating the full, happy life we each have the opportunity to experience

frio fun

hihihihi

Im back from camp and pumped about life ! ! !  This year was truly an amazing experience filled with new friends and a new type of fun - - when they say best two weeks they aren't kidding ! Camp is a place where one can feel safe in their quirky identity and literally feel the presence of Christ . This was my fourth year at Laity Lodge and my last year as a camper - - super bittersweet but mostly sweet . Cabin I included lots of extra sneak outs and secret traditions that I had never experienced before , and I cannot wait to see where my next chapter at camp could lead me . This was the first year I went alone without my friends and it was scary but great to just get away . I got the opportunity to grow super close with some girls I otherwise would't have talked to that much and leaving the AH bubble behind is always refreshing.

Two weeks without cell service were well spent - - swimming and partying and praying. Our theme was Disney Princesses , and each night we visited a new princess . Merida taught us to slingshot tomatoes , we played trivia with Elsa , celebrated Chinese New Year with Mulan and raved at Peeble Beach with Rapunzel. In arts n crafts we burnt designs in wooden postcards, and in dance activity I learned how to two-step , to waltz , and to pretzel . Jumping off the cliff at Blue Hole had its usual thrill & hiking to antenna for roundup left us with a precious view.  Girl/Guy split was spent watching Princess Diaries and swimming at Family Camp , while Group Games were always a tense , brutal competition (go bounties !!! ). Rodeo Dance was super cute bc I danced with foxhole boys (youngest campers) and date night wasn't that awkward (even though I wore a cute outfit with chacos :) ) .

I also got to spend a lot of time journaling and studying the bible and worshipping in a place where it feels wonderfully comfortable to do so . I learned lots about creation , sin and myself . Something really cool we talked about was that sins were really just getting your "loves out of order" and that in life we wear "masks" in order to please others. We also discussed our purpose and place in the greater story, and dove into the story of David. Some important things I have taken away include how HUGE God's love is for us and how much he cares for each of us . A goal of mine is to adopt a new attitude of 1) be more spontaneous and less anxious and 2) not care what other people think of me .

Ultimately , I developed some deep relationships that I wouldn't trade for the world and can't wait to be back in the canyon . Every time I leave I think , why can't real life be like this???? Until next time -- ellie
