surprise partiiii
me & geli & sarah decided to throw a super secret surprise party for our two friends with birthdays two days apart
decorated with striped paper straws, mason jars and tiffany blue paper plates , you could say it was cute
we feed everyone ice cream and just enjoyed each others company , after much chaos in trying to get them to sarah's house without suspicions
| it was a little difficult to gather lots of people, but we managed |
crafty sunday
for our next sunday funday , we all went to micheal's and bought different projects to entertain us
jenna made a clothespin picture hanger , abi bought a coloring book , nicole painted a mason jar , me and sarah made stationary and geli was late
making stationary was actually really fun and cool way to be creative , i am interested in making more in the future
all it takes is markers , some inspirational quotes and washi tape (my new obsession!!!)
creative streak
for my english class , we were tasked with creating a visual and written component based on a theme from the book of mice and men
naturally, i choose to fill a vintage suitcase with some authentic items from the time period
yeah i kinda overdid it , but that's ok because it was fun
finding an old 1937 mice and men book, along with postcards , letters , photographs , a harmonica and a compass really helped me capture the sense of loneliness migrant workers of the time period and currently have to deal with
for the written part , I did a letter to loneliness - an interesting challenge
it's kinda a mixture of poetry and prose and uses some parallel structure im kinda proud of
this project has inspired me to try some new things, and ultimately brought me back to blogging after seeing all these cool creations that materialized from my quirky class
nature videos about solitude, paintings of sunsets, string art -- the projects were all unique and revealed a different side of a lot of people , cool how creativity can do that , right ?
farmers market and la gloria
last saturday we woke up early , ok like nine but whatever , and went to the farmers market at pearl
they had a crepe station which I heard was NOM , and I had a kolache with some pomegranate ice tea
there were like 5748295748239 people with dogs there and each of the little vendors offered something magically different and yummy
next, we went over to la gloria, this super good mexican restaurant
they have the best lemonade and a view of the river
things didn't go exactly as planned when we accidentally ordered spicy hot queso -- but we spent a solid 20 minutes playing heads up at the table , so it was fine
softball is over :(
you could say it was an emotional night considering 7 of us bawled for a good half an hour
it wasn't about losing (we got run-ruled btw) , it was't about the plays , it was about the people
this year we were blessed with two awesome senior leaders who have grown to be some of my best friends since freshman year
we were all terribly sad to see them go , but even if softball brought us together -- im sure the friendship will still last
they have been the BEST role models, and things just won't be the same
time for me to be the leader? excuse me what? that scares me a lot but things will work out (probs , it's unclear if I have authority)
our last practice was super bittersweet, and even if we were second to last in district it was definitely my favorite season yet
welp, that's all I have for now but hopefully I can keep up on some more posts soon
jamming to american authors pandora radio , I strongly recommend it
